NEW DECISIONS TAKEN BY THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF CORONA VIRUS

Within the context of the Corona Virus measures, new decisions have been taken by the Council of Ministers of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus which will be imposed between 5 April – 12 April 2021. The rules deemed necessary to be followed are as follows:

  • A partial curfew will be applied from Monday until Saturday between 22:00 and 05:00 and from Saturday 22:00 until Monday 05:00 (Except to meet basic needs).

From Monday – Saturday:

  • Markets will be open between 07:00 and 21:00.
  • Retail and merchandising services, restaurants and all of the services/sectors that are not specified as closed will be open between 10:00 and 21:00.
  • All businesses and activities, except for pharmacies, petrol stations, bakeries,livestock and related enterprises will be closed on Sunday.

Establishments that will remain closed are as follows:

  • Cinemas, engagement-birthday parties, weddings, casinos, bars, tavernas, shisha cafes, all kinds of game halls, indoor children’s playgrounds, massage parlours, spas, open buffet restaurants, night clubs, clubs, religious prayer services, internet cafes

Establishments that will remain open are as follows:

  • All institutions will return work within the framework of pandemic rules.
  • All businesses and activities that are not stated implicitly may be open under the specified conditions. There will be no trying on of clothing at stores.
  • Businesses will be allowed to take orders, restock or rearrange shelves, conduct sales and distribute between 08:00 and 21:00.
  • In order to comply with the social distance rule in all open institutions and workplaces, and to maintain the social distance in these workplaces in line with square meters, signs and markings should be provided. Hygiene and disinfection conditions must be applied both inside the workplace and at the entrances and exits, and it is the employer’s responsibility to implement these measures.
  • A decision has been adopted to lift a travel ban between the Lefke, Güzelyurt, İskele, Gazimağusa districts
  • Bus services will be allowed to operate between all districts
  • Passengers will not be allowed to sit next to the driver of the buses, minibuses, and taxis.
  • Public transport will be allowed to operate at 50 per cent capacity. Seats behind drivers will be left empty.
  • The windows of the public transport will be open, air conditioning will not be used and everyone in the vehicle will wear a mask.
  • A consent form will be signed by the business owners engaged in public transportation. Those who violate the rules stated in the form will be subject to criminal action.
  • It has been decided to continue online education (except for Grade 12 students) at all public or private pre-school, primary and secondary education until further notice.
  • Barbershops, hairdressers, beauty salons and tattoo studios will continue to operate between 07:00-20:00.
  • Mass rallies, meetings or ceremonies cannot be carried out indoors. All rallies, meetings or gatherings to be carried out outdoors must be carried out under social distancing rules. All demonstrators or participants are required to wear face masks.
  • Professional actors or stage performers/artists/musicians are allowed to rehearse on the condition they follow strict hygiene rules. Stage performances will be allowed but theatres or concert halls will operate at 1/3 capacity. Social distancing rules will be applied. All individuals will apply social distancing and wear masks for the duration of the performance.
  • Music or bale instructors will be allowed to resume one-on-one private lessons
  • Internet cafes will be allowed to open on 08.04.2021. The names of all customers will be recorded. Each customer will be allowed to use a computer for a maximum of 2 hours. All establishments which fail to comply with the following rules will be shut down.
  • All libraries will be allowed to open as of 5 April 2021. Hand sanitisers will be placed at the entrance and exits of all libraries. Librarians will be required to sign consent forms.
  • Apprentice students will be allowed to resume their training at sectors that have opened. Rules which apply to these sectors will also apply for apprentices.
  • All members of the public are urged to adhere with the decisions. Those who violate the conditions will be subject to legal prosecution.
